BRRRRR
So, it’s still cold & wet out there… This is a mixed blessing for us, our established vineyard in Chemainus is behind, but it’s been great for our newly planted grapes & blackberries.
We’ve been mowing the grass between the rows, and weedwacking the area between plants. It took nearly a week to knock down the grass, which I’m sure will spring up again in a couple of weeks. But the biggest surprise (I guess) is our blackberries have flower buds, as they are 2 year old plants this shouldn’t have been that big a surprise. So we may have a small crop of blackberries this year.
On another note, we are anxiously anticipating the newest addition to our vineyard/winery team. Our newest team member may not know it yet, but we’ve got lots of work for her scaring away the bunny rabbits, and chasing quail… Yes, our new team member is a golden retriever puppy that we expect to bring home in about a week. Her name is Tawny, so say hi to her if you come to visit.
