Wow, two great days at the happiest place on earth. Great rides, fantastic weather. Temperatures hit 34 yesterday - blazingly hot. Having a really fabulous time. Enjoyed the coasters, but the grizzley run was a fav - great to get wet in the heat. Off to universal studios today.

So we’re almost at LA. Passing vineyards frequently, many with GDC trellising and other new styles. It’s warm and sunny, and the is 6-8 inches of growth on the vines.

We woke up in Portland, Oregon this morning. Had breakfast and loaded the group on the bus a half hour ahead of schedule. Another long day on the bus, ending in Redding California tonight. Passed by some vineyards and wineries, feeling right at home.

Today starts a little adventure. Our daughter Robin’s school band is heading to California on a school trip, and I’m the chaperone for the boys.
Should be interesting with 3 days on abus each way to get there. On the ferry to Vancouver

So our last batch of grapes arrived. Albarino (spanish) or alvarinho (portuguese) is a white wine grape grown in northwestern Spain. Originally imported from the Rhine , which is where the name comes from, it has tendencies like viognier, gewurtztraminer and riesling. Look for it in about 5 years

So we’re almost done our winter pruning. After a weekend of great weather the rain returned today. Everyone was cold and wet, so we stopped at Timmy’s on the way home for French Vanilla’s and hot chocolate

So we’re getting all the wines bottled. Great initial responses to our new vintage. Stop by the tasting room and try to 2010 Ortega or Pinot Gris.

What a beatiful day it has been, sunny, warm; perfect to get out and tidy up before we open tomorrow. Yes tomorrow’s the big day - we’re open now until at least October.
Today I also finished filtering my wines; ready to bottle as soon as the truck from Bruni Glass arrives.
