Trellising
The first load of our trellising posts arrived about 10 days ago. We’ve made really good progress, and our vineyard is now peppered with galvanized metal posts. What a difference a week makes!
We’re installing a trellising system that is pretty unique on Vancouver Island. It’s called Geneva Double Curtain, and it is perfect for the more vigorous grape varieties, like the ones we’ve planted here.
Having all the support system in place will allow us to leave a small crop of fruit on the most vigorous vines this year, so we can start to experiment in the winery with these new grapes.
Budbreak has already occured, our Cab-Foch has started to leaf out.
